Proven Leadership For Uncertain Times

STRONG AND EFFECTIVE LEADER ON ORO VALLEY COUNCIL

Steve has a proven track record of leading our Town, solving complex problems, and preparing for the future.

BALANCING THE BUDGET

Upon first taking office Steve was faced with a $3 million shortfall due to the great recession. Steve led efforts to control spending and balanced the budget while maintaining the Town’s quality services. He has the proven experience to help lead our Town through our current COVID-19 financial crisis.

RE-STARTING BUSINESSES

As a long time Oro Valley business owner he knows what businesses need to help them recover and thrive through this difficult time so that they can continue providing our needed services, employment opportunities and revenue. As only one example, when COVID-19 forced our local businesses to close he led the effort to suspend the Town’s strict sign code allowing businesses  to let residents know they were still open for takeout and deliveries.

KEEPING ORO VALLEY SAFE

As a strong advocate for the Oro Valley Police Department & Public Safety, he has always ensured that OVPD has had the proper funding to keep OV the safest Town in AZ, including funds necessary for hiring needed additional officers earlier this year. This along with his insistence on the selection of a very highly qualified internal Police Chief has allowed our continued safety during the current COVID-19 crisis.

PROVIDING FOR THOSE IN NEED

Steve championed efforts forming the successful Oro Valley Dial-A-Ride program ensuring low cost essential transportation services to the Town’s most in-need residents helping them through these difficult times.

VOICE OF THE COMMUNITY

Steve knows and is committed to responsible decision making, relying on facts, analysis, and public input to help guide him make the best choices for our community.

ORO VALLEY COUNCIL TRANSPARENCY

He has been a fierce advocate of transparency, arguing for Council discussions and decisions to be conducted in open, public meetings for all to see.

INCLUSIVE DECISIONS

Steve firmly believes in making decisions based upon sound facts and analysis with input from our residents and what is best for our Town. Recently his efforts have resulted in a plan to ensure the financial success of our Community Center and Golf and the selection of a new Internal Police Chief.

RESPONSIBLE GROWTH

Steve has put in place policies that ensure the Town’s growth was done in a smart and responsible manner, including the implementation of our Environmentally Sensitive Land Ordinance to protect our beautiful open space and preserve our native vegetation

RESIDENTS FIRST

Steve is actively working for a solution for the closed Vistoso Golf Course property that supports the community desires by preserving the land as recreational and open space.   Steve has critically important experience having worked with the Town, Pima County and most importantly, residents and neighbors to create Honeybee Village Archaeology Preserve. He knows that collaboration and resolution can work, and he knows it can be to the benefit of the residents, the Town, and the property owner.

ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY

Steve is committed to keeping Oro Valley a sustainable community of excellence and ensuring the continued success of our businesses WITHOUT NEW TAXES

LOCAL SERVICES

Steve believes a healthy Town is one where its residents have access to restaurants, shops and entertainment all in their back yard. That is both convenient and results in the sales taxes going to OV rather than elsewhere.

LOCAL REVENUE

The answer to a well-funded town is though revenue generated from well-planned economic development and growth, NOT new taxes. He supports the transformation of the Oro Valley Market Place into a thriving retail and entertainment town center. Not only will this provide wonderful new local services but also the revenue to keep Oro Valley a Place of Excellence.

AFFORDABILITY

Steve knows that property taxes would be wrong for Oro Valley; he wants to keep the cost of living in Oro Valley affordable for both families and fixed income residents.
